A Word from Wendy...

Dear Team,

What a fantastic two weeks it has been! I am so proud of the energy, focus, and commitment I’ve seen across our campus. Attendance has improved, classrooms are buzzing with meaningful learning, and students are truly engaging in the work you have so thoughtfully planned. Thank you for the consistency, care, and high expectations you bring every single day—it is making a difference.

As we continue to build on this momentum, I want to share a quick reminder about Summit K-12. Please continue encouraging and ensuring that our EB students are logging on regularly to the platform. This is a powerful tool to accelerate language growth, and consistent use is key to reaching the ambitious goals we have set for our students.

In addition, if students arrive early enough in the morning, feel free to send them to Ms. Potter for the Summit K-12 club. She has big goals for student growth, and we want to support that work by maximizing every opportunity for students to engage.

One last reminder, please be sure 4th-5th grade teachers to update 1416 times by Monday afternoon!  Jocelyn is managing the update to the full spreadsheet and if you are waiting and doing 3 weeks at once it makes it A LOT for her to do-especially when their are multiple teachers.  Keep in mind as well that we are "A District in School Improvement" so these updates are shared at every Principal Meeting and when they are not up to date it looks as though we are not on track to get the hours in.

Thank you again for all you do to support our learners and one another. I hope you enjoy a well-deserved three-day weekend filled with rest and time to recharge. We look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday, ready for another great week ahead!

PBIS/Discipline Corner🤨

🌟 PBIS Focus of the Week: CHAMPS in the classroom

Helps students understand what positive behavior looks like in every learning situation. CHAMPS provides clear expectations so students can focus on learning, feel successful, and make good choices.

CHAMPS stands for:

C – Conversation: Can students talk? At what level?

H – Help: How do students get help if they need it?

A – Activity: What task are students working on?

M – Movement: Are students allowed to move around?

P – Participation: What does active participation look like?

What Does CHAMPS Look Like in Action?

Independent Work

Conversation: Silent
Help: Raise your hand
Movement: Stay in your seat
Participation: Complete your work thoughtfully

Partner or Group Work

Conversation:
Quiet voices
Help: Ask a partner first, then the teacher
Movement: Stay with your group
Participation: Share ideas and stay on task

Whole Group Instruction

Conversation: Listening voices
Help: Raise your hand
Movement: Stay seated
Participation: Track the speaker and respond when asked

By clearly teaching expectations through CHAMPS, students know how to be successful in every setting. This consistency supports a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment for all. Thank you for partnering with us as we build PAWSitive behaviors every day!

Coaching Corner🏫

🌟 Coaching Corner: Room Arrangement & the Power of Less.

Our classroom environments speak before we do. The way a room is arranged can either invite focus—or compete for it. This month’s Coaching Corner highlights the power of less and how intentional room arrangement can increase engagement, clarity, and learning.

🪑 This Month’s Focus: Designing Spaces for Learning

A well-arranged classroom doesn’t require more materials—it requires purpose. When spaces are uncluttered and thoughtfully designed, students are better able to focus on instruction, collaborate effectively, and move with intention.

🧠 Coaching Tip

Ask yourself:

Does every piece of furniture serve a clear instructional purpose?

Are pathways clear for student movement and teacher circulation?

Do wall displays support current learning or compete for attention?

Less visual noise creates more cognitive space for learning.

✨ Try This This Week

Simplify one area of your room (a table, shelf, or wall) and notice the impact.

Ensure student-facing visuals connect directly to what is currently being taught.

Create clear zones (whole group, small group, independent work) so students know where learning happens.

Leave some wall space intentionally blank—this helps anchor attention on instruction.

🔍 Coaching Reflection

How did students respond to the simplified space?

Did transitions feel smoother?

Did you notice increased focus or independence?

🐾 PAWSitive Note

Intentional environments support calm, clarity, and confidence. By embracing the power of less, we create classrooms that allow student thinking—and learning—to take center stage.

HUMBLE ISD EMPLOYEES STUDENT TRANSFER APPLICATIONS

Employees who would like their child to attend an Humble ISD school that is different from where the child is zoned to attend, based upon their home address, must obtain an Approved Student Transfer. Not all Humble ISD campuses are available for transfers, even for employees, due to capacity of campuses.

The application period for requesting student transfers for the 2026-2027 school year will be Friday, January 9 - Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Applications received after February 10, 2026 are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, based on availability.

Employees who live outside of Humble ISD must submit a renewal application annually. Renewal applications are required every year for all out-of-district employees in order to maintain approved transfer status.

Employees whose children already are on an Approved Student Transfer do not need to submit a Student Transfer Application if they live in Humble ISD and their child is staying at the same school next year. Approved transfer students may remain at the campus through the highest grade level for that campus, unless stipulations were designated at the time of approval.

Upon completion of the student’s education at one campus level, a new transfer application must be completed. There should be no expectation that a transfer will be accepted to a middle or high school in the same feeder pattern.

Humble ISD does not provide transportation for approved transfers. Transportation will be the responsibility of the parent. High school students are not guaranteed parking privileges.

If an employee resigns or loses their position within 90 days of employment in the effective school year, the transfer may be revoked.

Employees should review the Employee Student Transfers information. You must be logged in to MyHumble in order to access this information (not accessible through a personal email address). Employees will be able to access the 2026-2027 Transfer Application beginning Friday, January 9.

Please submit the 2026-2027 transfer application from Jan. 9 - Feb. 10. Applications are processed in the order that they are received. If you have questions, please email the Transfer Coordinator at: transferrequests@humbleisd.net
