Pages from the Principal

Dear Timbers Families,

As September keeps moving along, it’s been exciting to see our Timberwolves dive into learning, build friendships, and grow in confidence every day.

We love seeing families involved in our school community, and September has some perfect opportunities to do ojust that:

  • PTO Board Meeting – Sept. 16 @ 6 PM: Join us to share ideas and help plan activities that support our students and teachers.

  • WATCH DOG Meeting – Sept. 23 @ 6:30 PM: Learn how dads, grandfathers, uncles, and father figures can volunteer to make a big impact on campus.

These events are great examples of how families and our community make Timbers stronger. Your time, energy, and ideas help create a school where every child feels supported and inspired.

A quick reminder: attendance matters! Being at school on time every day helps students succeed. If your child is sick, please keep them home until they have been fever-free for 24 hours without medication—this keeps our community healthy and learning strong.

Also, don’t forget to complete the counseling and health services forms if you haven’t already—they give students fast access to support when they need it most:

  • Counseling Consent Form

  • Health Services Consent Form

Thank you for being an important part of the Timberwolf family! Together, we make school a place full of learning, fun, and community.

Proud to be part of the Wolfpack,
Frank Gerga

SB 12 and Personalized Counseling

On August 29 parents received an email from Humble ISD Connect with information on Senate Bill 12 which went into law on September 1, 2025.

State law requires school counselors to provide the following services as part of a Comprehensive School Counseling Program:

  • A guidance curriculum to help students develop their full educational potential, including the student's interests and career objectives.

  • A responsive services component to intervene on behalf of any student whose immediate personal concerns or problems put the student's continued educational, career, personal, or social development at risk.

  • An individual planning system to guide a student as the student plans, monitors, and manages the student's own educational, career, personal, and social development.

  • System support to support the efforts of teachers, staff, parents, and other members of the community in promoting the educational, career, personal, and social development of students.

Personalized Counseling is a part of our comprehensive counseling program. By signing the consent form you will allow us to continue providing personalized counseling to our students. Please refer to the email from August 29, 2025 for more detailed information and reach out to Mrs. Jones at cindy.jones@humbleisd.net if you have any questions or concerns.

Octavia Spencer Spotlight

Octavia Spencer, an award winning actress, is dyslexic but doesn't let that stop her. She said, “I was paralyzed with fear because I kept inverting words and dropping words. I didn’t want to be made to feel that I was not as smart as the other kids — because I know that I am a smart person.”

GT, or Gifted and Talented, is a program for students who learn quickly, think creatively, and need extra challenges to help their brains grow. While we offer specialized GT services, all students at Timbers engage in enrichment opportunities that spark curiosity and stretch their thinking through the Depth and Complexity framework and focus on an icon of the week.

Lunch Visitors

We’re excited to welcome lunch visitors to campus! As part of the Wolfpack, your support helps us maintain a safe and positive environment for all students. To help things run smoothly, we ask that you please follow a few guidelines during your visit:

  • Be sure to sign in and out at the front office before heading to the cafeteria.

  • Food brought to school should be for your student only. We ask that no food be shared with other students.

  • Please plan to sit with your student on the stage. For safety reasons, other students will not be able to join.

  • While we love celebrating, birthday parties and balloons aren’t allowed in the cafeteria. You’re welcome to bring store-bought cupcakes, which will be passed out at the teacher’s convenience.

  • Photos should be limited to just you and your student, in order to respect others’ privacy.

  • Food delivery services (like DoorDash or Uber Eats) are not allowed during the school day.

  • There will be no lunch visitors on STAAR or mock testing days. We’ll send out reminders ahead of time.

  • To ensure space for everyone, please limit lunch visitors to 3 per student.

For medical or dental appointments:

  • Turn it in to the attendance office within 48 hours.

Did You Know?
Dated health care appointment notes allow the school to mark your child present if they attended any part of the school day, such as before or after their appointment.

When TE students stay in school until 9:35 a.m., it ensures the school receives full funding for the day. Your support in ensuring your child’s attendance not only helps them academically, but also boosts the school’s success.

Thank you for partnering with us to provide the best educational experience for our students. For more information, please visit Important Attendance Information for Parents or view the Attendance Reminders for Elementary & Middle School flyer.
