ATTENDANCE
CAMPUS GOAL 96% - YEAR TO DATE = 96.5%
September is designated as Attendance Awareness Month to shine a spotlight on the critical role attendance plays in student success.
Students are encouraged to build strong attendance habits now. Research shows that attendance patterns in September often predict a student’s attendance for the rest of the year.
We aim to reduce chronic absenteeism and ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive academically and socially.

MORNING ARRIVAL
Time:
The doors to the building open at 7:30 AM every day. There are NOT any staff members on duty until 7:30 AM.
There are quite a few students being dropped off early and congregating outside the building, sometimes 20 or more. These students are NOT supervised by any adults during this time. Unsupervised elementary aged children have difficulty always making the best choices interacting with each other and their surroundings when there are many other children around.
For the safety of all students, please do not drop off and leave your children until 7:30 AM.
Safety:
Cars dropping off need to follow the established traffic flow. The safest way to drop off students is by using the car rider lines that stop at the curbs adjacent to the building.
Any students being dropped off by car need to use the sidewalks to access the building. Please reinforce this with your children.
Refrain from using cellphones in school zones.
BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
The Elementary Battle of the Books is a voluntary reading program for fourth and fifth grade students in Humble ISD. The purpose is to encourage students to read good books and have fun while competing with peers.
Students who want to participate must commit to reading their assigned books, attending meetings/practices, and if their team advances to the finals, attending the competition that will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at KHS from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. The student may purchase copies of the books they are assigned, but it is not a requirement.
First Battle of the Books meeting is on Monday, September 15 from 3:45 PM - 4:30 PM in the SFE library. Students must have a signed permission slip and change of dismissal sent to teachers to stay for the meeting. Permission Slip Link

HUMBLE ISD GOLD FIGHT WIN DAY
September is childhood cancer awareness month. Gold Fight Win is a partnership between Humble ISD and three area pediatric cancer non-profit organizations who have come together to raise awareness of the devastating impact of childhood cancer, educate our students about pediatric cancer, and raise money that is used to support critical research at facilities like MD Anderson and Texas Children's Cancer Center here in Houston.
Mothers Against Cancer started in 1989, and volunteers come from Kingwood and the Lake Houston area. Their goal is to raise money to help hospitals research a cure for cancer.
Addi's Faith Foundation was founded in 2008 to honor Addison. Addi's Faith is able to help families with financial assistance as well as provide lunches to families while they are staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
L3 Foundation stands for Live, Love, Landon. L3 was created to honor Landon, and its purpose is to help children who are fighting childhood cancer and their families as well as to find a cure.
September 19 has been designated as "Humble ISD Gold Fight Win" day. Go Gold T-shirts can be purchased at Ace Hardware, both Kingwood and Atascocita locations, and at Pretty Little Things in Kingwood.
Visit humbleisd.net/GoldFightWin for more details.
