- Regular attendance is critical to your child’s success at school! Even during this holiday time period, there is still a lot of instruction, learning and practice happening on a daily basis in classrooms.
- Please make every effort to have your child at school every day (unless has a fever or has had a fever within 24 hours). Teachers and Nurse Murphy will monitor your child and how they are feeling during the school day as needed.
- Official attendance time is 9:03 AM. Please schedule appointments after this time. Did you know?… If you have your child at school at the start of the school day, check him/her out for an appointment before 9:03 AM, and return to school with a doctor’s note after the appointment then your child will be counted as present for the day.

WINTER PARTIES INFORMATION |
- Parents are invited to attend the classroom winter parties on Friday, December 19, at 10:45 AM. Due to limited space in classrooms, we ask that you limit guests attending the party to 2 adults per student.
- All visitors who are planning to attend need to pre-register by completing the Winter Parties RSVP Google Form by noon on Wednesday, December 17.
- Please note: Friday, December 19, is an early release day at noon.

SANTA’S SHARK WORKSHOP: 10 DAYS OF HOLIDAY FUN |

We’re excited to celebrate the season with 10 festive dress-up days at Shadow Forest Elementary! Below is the remaining schedule so families can plan ahead and join the fun. Participation is completely OPTIONAL.

Wear a Santa hat to welcome Santa to the workshop!

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 16–Holiday Socks Day
Wear fun holiday socks to spread cheer step by step!

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 17–Reindeer Day
Wear antlers or a fin headband to help guide Santa’s team!

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18–Frosty Day
Dress like Frosty with a hat or winter flair!

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 19–Sparkle & Shine Day
Wear sparkles or holiday shine for our party day!

- Please remind your child to check SFE’s Lost and Found for any items he/she is missing. Any items remaining after December 19 will be donated.

- A Lemonade with Lackey meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 7, at 2:00 PM in the cafeteria. We invite anyone to attend this informal parent information and Q&A session.

WAVES OF PAGES READING PROGRAM |
- SFE has partnered with the Waves of Pages Reading program again this year. With your help, your child can earn one FREE admission to one of our Six Flags Parks, Splashtown, by reading 10 hours (600 minutes) during the program.
- Find more details at this link: Student Reading Log. All forms are due on or before February 16. Please have your child turn the reading log into their teacher before February 16.

- We are pleased to announce the return of SFE’s 3rd Annual Shark Showcase that will be held on Thursday, February 26th, during our SFE Open House. All students are invited to participate!
- This event has been designed to showcase student creativity, build problem solving skills, and promote enthusiasm for learning for ALL of our SFE Sharks! This is an at-home optional project that will allow students to share their learning and interests with other families in the SFE community.
- Please click on the Shark Showcase Information Letter to read more about the Shark Showcase! If your child is interested in participating, please fill out this Shark Showcase Approval Form by Friday, January 16th.

- SFE PTA Scholarships are now open. Applicants must attend Kingwood High School or Kingwood Park HS, have attended Shadow Forest Elementary for a minimum of three years, and be a member of a local PTA or PTSA. Two senior students will receive a $500 scholarship. For more information, click here.
- Our SFE yearbook design is in full swing and it's the perfect time to get your yearbook ordered. You can head to Treering to order your yearbooks. We also need your help with sharing any pictures you have taken throughout the year. You can share those through the yearbook app/website HERE or drop them into our Google Drive folders. Stay tuned for more information about our yearbook cover art contest!
- Don’t forget to Join PTA! The $10 membership fee helps fund fun and enriching activities for our students!
- Stay connected to all things PTA at the SFE PTA Website, our Facebook page, and our new Instagram page.
- Pay Class Party Fees here. This is a fee paid to SFE PTA for student parties. We ask that all families contribute whether they choose to join SFE PTA or not. The activity fee is a different fee requested by the school and is paid to the school via RevTrak. If you have questions about the activity fee, please contact the school.
