CLASSROOM PLACEMENTS
Placements will be viewable in Home Access Center (HAC) on the morning of August 11. There are many factors we consider when making class placements. Please remember that we have the same goal for your child - to help him/her grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
BACK TO SCHOOL EVENTS
MEET THE TEACHER - MONDAY, AUGUST 11, 5:00-6:00 PM
This is an informal come and go event for parents and students to meet classroom teachers and visit the classrooms.
There will be staff available in the cafeteria to help answer questions, including information about registration, clinic, counseling, cafeteria, student support, and technology support.
Please make sure to pick up your child’s dismissal tag number from the table in the cafeteria this evening. **Even if your child will be a biker or walker during the school year, you will still need this number to use for a Severe Weather Day Dismissal.
EPI supply orders will be delivered to SFE. (EPI orders closed mid June). Students are welcome to bring in their school supplies - School Supply Link.
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL - WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13
Parents will be able to briefly walk their children into their classrooms beginning at 7:40 AM. School begins at 7:55 AM.
PARENT ORIENTATION - THURSDAY, AUGUST 21, 6:00-7:00 PM
Classroom teachers will share grade level and classroom specific items with you at this event. We highly recommend this as a parent only event.

CAMPUS PROCEDURES HIGHLIGHTS
*MORNING ARRIVAL
For students’ safety, please do not drop off students prior to 7:30 AM. There will NOT be any staff on duty for monitoring students until this time. Drop off should only be in the designated drop off locations along the sidewalks. Students should not walk across the parking lot without a parent escort.
Students will be able to enter the front of the school, the cafeteria door or the door by the bike rack.
Students will go straight to classrooms or possibly other offered morning activities.
Students needing to eat breakfast will first go through the line and eat in the cafeteria before going to class. In order to allow enough time for breakfast, it is recommended that students arrive by 7:40 AM to have enough time to eat.
The school day will start at 7:55 AM in classrooms. Please have your child at school by this time. Students will be marked tardy at 8:05 AM.
*AFTERNOON DISMISSAL
All parents should fill out the SFE Dismissal Form (same as mentioned above) for each student attending SFE.
Below are the times dismissal will begin.
3:15 Bikers and walkers dismissal begins
3:20 Car rider, day care and bus dismissal begins
3:35 YMCA students will be dismissed to cafeteria once dismissal is complete
If making changes to your child’s dismissal plan, send a note with your child to be given to your child’s teacher. If last minute changes need to be made due to an emergency or unforeseen circumstances, send an email to april.ockerman@humbleisd.net, tracey.wright@humbleisd.net AND your child’s homeroom teacher no later than 2:45 PM. The front office can not take dismissal changes over the phone alone.

Parents will remain in vehicles.
Talk with your child to help him/her learn what color and type of vehicle will be picking up.
Please make seating arrangements in your vehicle so students can load your car on the passenger side.
Parents walking up to the front doors during dismissal to get their child will be asked to join the car rider line or wait until dismissal is over for their child to be called to the Front Office. Dismissal changes will not be taken after 2:45 PM.
Dismissal Numbers
Please pick up your child’s dismissal tag number with an assigned number at Meet The Teacher. If you can’t attend this event, your dismissal tag will be emailed to you from your child’s teacher on Tuesday, August 12, and the printed tag will be sent home on the first day of school. If for any reason you ever need this tag to be reprinted, please contact Tracey Wright at Tracey.Wright@humbleisd.net .
Families carpooling together will need to have the dismissal numbers displayed for every family in the car pool until a carpool dismissal number is assigned. The SFE Carpool Form (same as mentioned above) will allow a carpool number to be assigned and a tag will be sent home with one student.
If not part of a carpool but your child is riding home with a friend (infrequent occurrence), please send a note to school with your child that includes the dismissal number of the person he/she will be going home with that day.
If a parent does not have the designated dismissal number, he/she will be directed to park and go into the front office to get one. Parents will be asked to show an ID and a new dismissal number tag will be printed. Parents will have the choice to get back in the car rider line or wait until dismissal is over for his/her child to be called to the front office.

EXPECTATIONS FOR PARENTS
Parents should not park and walk up to retrieve students from the walkers/bikers dismissal locations. Students leaving in a vehicle, even when a parent is walking up, would be considered car riders and should go through designated car rider lines. Parents picking up walkers/bikers should be walking/biking from home and not have a vehicle parked on campus or on a neighboring street.
Do not park along Autumn Sage at the front of the school or on neighboring side streets or cul-de-sacs. This causes congestion in the traffic flow and unsafe conditions for students.
Keep all pets at home.
Students WITH parents will be asked to wait before playing on the playgrounds at dismissal time after they have connected. We want to keep the playground areas clear of visitors and students until 3:45pm or until dismissal is complete. Students WITHOUT parents will not be allowed to stay and play after dismissal. They can return later with parent’s permission.
Talk with your child(ren) before the first day of school so they know if they should expect you to meet them, meet up with a sibling/friend, or walk/bike home alone.
Talk with your child(ren) about biker and walker safety. All bikes need to be walked leaving school property and crossing streets.
Severe Weather Dismissal
The decision to call a Severe Weather Dismissal will be made by 2:55 PM and will only be utilized when there is visible lightning, thunder and/or heavy rain. We will send an SFE Connect email and a text near 3:00 PM only if we will be having a Severe Weather Dismissal.
During Severe Weather Dismissal, the manner in which students are dismissed will remain the same for Car Riders, Daycare Riders, and Bus Riders. Dismissal procedures for Bikers and Walkers will be adjusted (see procedures below). This is communicated to SFE on the previously filled out SFE Dismissal Form.
Parents choosing for their student(s) to continue to be Walkers or Bikers will need to pick up their student(s) at the designated door. All Severe Weather Day DESIGNATED Bikers and Mills Branch Walkers will be picked up at door number 8 near the bike racks on the backside of the school. All Severe Weather Day Autumn Sage Walkers will be picked up at door number 13 on the far right side of the school building when facing the school entrance.
Walkers and Bikers will ONLY be released during Severe Weather Dismissal to a parent or parent designee. You will need to know your child’s assigned dismissal number. It is helpful to have a visual of the dismissal number to expedite our process. A picture of the dismissal number on your phone is acceptable.
Please adhere to the pick-up spot you have chosen and make sure that your student(s) is aware of your plans should a Severe Weather Dismissal be called. It is very helpful for your child to be able to recognize your vehicle (color and type).
Parents walking up to the front doors during a Severe Weather Dismissal will be asked to join the car rider line or wait until dismissal is over for their student(s) to be called to the front office. Dismissal changes will not be taken after 2:45 PM.
