ATTENTION SENIORS-FAFSA Graduation Requirement

In an effort to increase the number of students enrolling in college after high school graduation and to ensure each eligible student is utilizing untapped federal resources available for their post-secondary education, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) has added a financial aid application provision as a graduation requirement.

Students enrolled in the 12th grade are required to complete ONE of the following in order to meet their GRADUATION REQUIREMENT:

∗ Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa). The FAFSA is an application used by current students living in the US used to determine eligibility for most federal, state, and institutional financial aid.

∗Complete and submit a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA)

https://www.highered.texas.gov/our-work/empowering-our-students/tasfa/

Note: Students classified as a Texas Resident who cannot apply for federal financial aid using the FAFSA are encouraged to complete the TASFA.

∗Submit a signed opt-out form (Obtain the Opt Out Form from your Counselor)

**PLEASE forward the confirmation of completion email from FAFSA/TASFA to your campus counselor or obtain an OPT OUT FORM.**

1:1 Counselor Meetings Are Underway!

We are excited to announce that our 1:1 meetings with students are officially underway. We have met with the senior class and will continue meeting with students across all grade levels throughout the semester.

During these individual meetings, we will:

  • Discuss each student’s goals for the school year

  • Review their academic growth (credits, endorsements, graduation requirements)

  • Provide support and guidance tailored to their needs (CCMR)

A follow-up email will be sent to parents/guardians to keep you informed and involved in your student's progress and planning.

We are looking forward to connecting with every student and supporting their success this year!

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your student’s counselor.
