look what we are learning

This month we will be learning all about rules and routines! Our preschool theme is “Hello School”.  Students will be learning about what school is like, why we follow routines and rules, safety at school, and comparing different school environments. Literacy: Students will be introduced to the alphabet, build knowledge of letters S/s and M/m. Math: skills will involve introducing students to counting. Science: will address concepts such as light, heavy, health, and measurement. Social Skills: learning rules (being responsible, respectful, and safe), making friends, being safe in our environment. Students will be exposed to a language rich environment corresponding to a wide variety of initial school activities. I encourage you to talk about these topics at home with your child to facilitate and support learning. Some vocabulary terms being addressed throughout this theme include: routine, alike, different, belong, playground, desk, hall, books, library, friends, teacher, listen, learn, rules, ask, backpack, class, supplies, together, world, cultures, students, and recess.

arrive dismiss

Attention Parents:

Arrival: Mornings are tough (for everyone) especially when you are little and when you LOVE 💖your parents. Setting consistent routines and frontloading your little ones with expectations of a schedule are helpful to decrease their anxiety. We open the doors at 7:30! We have breakfast available for students until 8:05 (then our cafe starts preparing for lunch time). So please have your students here before the tardy bell 😃

Dismissal: Car Rider is moving quite quickly! The Car Rider line has been ending on average by 3:30 everyday. We begin our car rider dismissal at 3:05 each afternoon, this allows plenty of time for parents to make it for pick up at other campuses. Please make plans to pick up your babies from the ECC first then the older kids. After 3:30, your students will need to be checked out in the front office; and I don't want you to have to get out of your car. Thank you for your consideration.

Dismissal Changes: All changes of dismissal must be shared with your student's teacher and or the front office, as soon as you are aware of the change. Due to safety, we will only accept changes from a parent. Bus changes HAVE to be verified through both the front office and the district and take additional time to verify Changes MUST be made before 12:00 everyday.

Late Check Outs: Check outs after 2:30- are very difficult because it is a transition period for our students and staff. If there are extenuating circumstances with your students dismissal please reach out to Mrs. Price.

attendance

Thank you for your attention to ensuring your child's absences are properly excused. When submitting a handwritten note, please include the following information: your child's first and last name, student ID, the specific date(s) of the absence, and the reason for the absence. Additionally, please remember to sign the note for validation purposes. If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Lopez at jennifer.lopez@humbleisd.net.

Students are considered tardy if they arrive after 8:05 am. If your child arrives after 8:05 am, please walk your child to the front office. The breakfast service line closes at 8:05 am.

Dismissal begins at 3:05 pm for car riders. The official attendance time is 9:30 am. Students who are not on campus at 9:30 am are counted as absent. If a student has a doctor’s note and is in attendance during any part of the school day the student will not be counted as absent. Please call 281-641-7800 to report your child’s absence or email jlopez@humbleisd.net.

Regular school attendance is essential. There are two important state laws regarding attendance. One law relates to compulsory attendance, once a child has enrolled in school, the child must attend school. This includes students enrolled in Pre -K.

Rooms is a new parent-teacher communication platform integrated into our Humble ISD mobile app!

With Rooms, you can easily access your child’s class information, including important announcements and materials, all in one convenient location. Plus, you’ll have the ability to engage directly with teachers through two-way messaging, making it easier to ask questions or share feedback.

Welcome to Pre-K! The Humble ISD 2025-26 Parent-Student Handbook is a great resource for both new and returning families. It contains a wealth of information, including health and wellness policies. Here is information from the handbook about when to keep your child home from school:

Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the local/regional health authority require students with fever equal to or greater than 100 °F be sent home and excluded from school until the student is free of fever for 24 hours, without the aid of fever reducing medication. As well, students with diarrheal illnesses may not return to school until they are diarrhea free without diarrhea-suppressing medications for at least 24 hours.

Life-threatening Food Allergies at the Early Childhood Center

ECC families, please be aware that there are students attending the ECC who have life-threatening food allergies. You can help us maintain a safe environment for ALL students by encouraging your child to:

  • Never share food with friends or classmates. It can be difficult to know exactly what ingredients are in foods.

  • Wash hands after eating. This is important because even a trace of food on your hands can be unintentionally spread to desks, books, playground equipment and other classroom items.

  • Bring lunches and snacks without common triggers (including nuts and seafood) when possible.

If you have any questions, please contact the Early Childhood Center nurse, Rachel Datz, at 281-641-7815, or rdatz@humbleisd.net.

papa patrol

Papa Patrol- (ECC version of Watch Dog Dads) are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who volunteer for at least one day each year at our school. During the day, Papa Patrollers may read and work on flash cards with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow and any other assigned activities. If you are interested in being part of Papa Patrol, make sure you fill out a Volunteer Application.
