Notes from Home

As part of our Great Kindness Challenge, families are invited to write a short note of encouragement for their student to bring to school. These notes will be displayed around campus for students to discover during our Random Acts of Kindness in February. Notes may be written by any family member. Please be sure to include your student’s name and teacher’s name on each note. A few kind words can brighten a whole day 💌

February is about Caring & Careers

Share Your Career With Our Students!

Bear Families,

As we gear up for CTE Month, we’d love to spotlight the amazing careers of our BBE parents and guardians! This is a great way for students to learn about the many jobs that keep our community strong.

If you’d like your career featured, please complete the short form.

During the month of February we will spotlight careers to our students. Around school, we will have gallery walks where students can read and see their parent's careers as well as teacher's past jobs! During lunches and on the announcements, we will feature speakers and videos of community careers - this will include parents, community helpers, local businesses

Dress up Tuesday! 2/3 - 100th day of school! What will you look when you're retired at 100 years old;  2/17 Astronaut or Futuristic; 2/24 Dress like a Boss

Mindful March

March brings exciting learning opportunities, including mock testing and our upcoming Science Fair/STREAM Night. This month, we are focusing on mindfulness to help students manage stress, stay focused, and feel confident during busy school days. *Save the Date for STREAM Night 3/12 at 6:00pm

Mock Testing + Mindfulness

Testing can stretch focus and emotions. We are encouraging students to use simple mindfulness tools before and during mock testing:

Box Breathing: Inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4. Repeat twice.

Positive Self-Talk: “I am prepared. I can try my best.”

Body Reset: Roll shoulders, relax jaw, plant both feet on the floor before beginning.

Families can practice these strategies at home to build confidence before test days.

Science Fair / STREAM Night: Mindful Curiosity

Science is all about wonder and patience. During Science Fair and STREAM Night, students are encouraged to:

Take a deep breath before explaining their project

Focus on effort and learning, not perfection

Notice excitement, pride, and curiosity in themselves and others

Mindfulness helps students communicate clearly, think flexibly, and enjoy the process of discovery.

Quick Mindful March Activities

Easy ideas teachers and families can use all month:

60-Second Reset: One minute of quiet breathing or stretching before work begins

Gratitude Snapshots: Students name one thing they’re grateful for after testing or presentations

Mindful Walk: Notice 3 things you see, 2 things you hear, and 1 thing you feel

March reminds us that growth takes patience. With mindfulness, students can meet challenges with calm minds and confident hearts

Personalized Counseling

Counseling and Behavioral Services Mission

To provide comprehensive counseling and behavioral support that promotes success, emotional well-being, and personal growth for every student. By partnering with families, staff, and the community, we create a safe and supportive environment where students build the skills and confidence to thrive in school and beyond.

In Humble ISD, we take a personalized approach to counseling, ensuring every student feels seen, supported, and valued. Each elementary student receives one individual meeting per year. This session provide space for students to explore their goals, aspirations, and the pathways available to them in Humble ISD. Beyond individual meetings, counselors also partner with teachers in the classroom, creating additional opportunities for students to grow and succeed. This collaborative approach equips students with the guidance, resources, and confidence to pursue thier personal goals, explore career pathways, and prepare for lifelong success.

Personalized Counseling

Personalized 1:1 Meetings

1:1 Meetings

The purpose of 1:1 individual meetings is to provide a more personalized counseling experience to students across the campus. These meetings provide a whole child approach to ensuring that students are identifying their own strengths, goals, and challenges, while also building connections at school, home, and within the community. The individual meeting allows counselors to personalize continued support, as needed, throughout the school year.

This semester I will be meeting with PreK, Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and new or remaining 3rd, 4th and 5th graders with the Humble ISD Consent for School Counseling Services.
