September 2025

Hello Sept 2025

Principal's Message

Greetings, Gators!

It’s hard to believe we are already in September. Students are learning their schedules, settling into classes, and beginning to take assessments. I encourage all parents to stay connected by regularly checking grades through the HAC system.

This month, there are several opportunities for families to get involved:

  • Title I Parent Meetings – September 16th (5:30PM-6:30PM) and 25th (8:00AM-9:00AM)

  • Legacy Sneaker Ball – September 26th (6:30PM-8:30PM) Volunteers are welcome to help make this event a success. Sign up using the QR code provided on the flyer.

  • Iron Men Organization – Led by Assistant Principal Mr. Johnson, open to all interested parents

  • Campus Events – Games, concerts, and performances are a great way to support our Gators

Alongside these activities, we ask for your continued partnership in supporting student learning. Please encourage your child to check and use their planner daily, engage in class discussions, complete assignments with effort, and attend tutorials when needed. Together, we can help all students grow academically this year.

We also ask for support with student behavior and campus safety. Recently, we have noticed students running in the hallways, excessive playful physical contact, and not wearing their school IDs. Please remind your student that replacement printed IDs cost $5 each and must be worn daily. For safety reasons, only printed IDs are allowed for entry into games and extracurricular events. Lastly, remember personal communication devices (cell phones, smart watches, earbuds, etc.) are not to be used during the school day. This policy helps us minimize distractions, keeps the focus on learning, and, overall, our students have done really well with this policy. As a reminder, participation in special events such as the Legacy Ball requires students to be in good behavioral standing: no more than one ISS/OSS occurrence, no more than five referrals total, all fees cleared, and final approval from administration.

We are not looking for perfection, but excellence is our standard. Thank you for your partnership in reinforcing positive behavior, academic growth, and safety. If you need assistance or help with your student, please begin with the teacher. If more assistance/guidance is needed or a serious concern arises, please reach out to your student's grade level assistant principal and counselor. This process will aid you in receiving a response quicker. We are looking forward to another great month with our Gators!

With gratitude,
Mrs. Burks
Principal

RELA

Dear Autumn Ridge Families,

Welcome to the start of an exciting school year in the Reading and Language Arts department! Our students are diving into a variety of informational texts, exploring how authors craft their messages and determine their purpose. Whether it's understanding an article or analyzing a story, students are practicing how to critically respond to prompts and critique their own work using rubrics. It's been an exciting start, and we can't wait to see their progress as they develop essential reading and writing skills.

As we continue our studies, we encourage you to engage with your child’s learning by occasionally listening to them read. Ask questions about the texts they're reading: What is the author trying to tell us? Why do you think they chose to write about this topic? These conversations not only reinforce their learning but also help them think critically about the content.

This month, students have also visited the library to explore new books and are gearing up for their Beginning of the Year assessments. These tests help us understand where students are starting, so we can better support their growth throughout the year.

Wednesday Rela Tutorials have started from 4:15-5:00 pm.

Thank you to everyone who attended our Open House! It was wonderful connecting with so many of you. As always, please feel free to reach out to any of our teachers with questions or concerns. We are here to support your child's learning every step of the way.

Looking forward to a fantastic year ahead!

Warm regards,

The Reading and Language Arts Team

Testing Updates
Humble ISD will host and pay for the PSAT to 8th  grade students on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025.

All 8th grade students are automatically registered for this assessment. The PSAT 8/9® is designed to measure the skills and knowledge that matter most for success in high school, college, and career. It provides a baseline for academic progress and helps students begin thinking about their future pathways—whether that includes college, career training, or entering the workforce. Learn more by reviewing the PSAT 8/9 Student Guide.

Benefits of the PSAT 8/9 include:

  • Identifying academic strengths and areas for growth while there’s still time to improve in high school.

  • Setting a target for future performance on college entrance exams like the SAT®.

  • Receiving personalized practice through official College Board resources.

  • Exploring AP® course readiness.

  • Connecting to career planning tools and college preparation resources.

Scores will be available to families through ARMS and the College Board’s online portal. Instructions for accessing results will be provided after testing.

  • For campus questions regarding testing, you may contact the ARMS Campus Testing Coordinator, Ms. Roland. Her email is Shannon.Roland@humbleisd.net.

CAR RIDER LOOP / WALKERS

For the safety of our students, please do not move our parking cones in any area that is placed to direct traffic. Our traffic signage is expected to be completed soon. Just a few reminders for safety…
1 - The front car rider loop is a “ONE WAY” at all times. Please do not exit the front parking lot, turning right. It is a “left turn” only to follow the car rider loop. Our car rider loop is a double-stacking lane in one direction at all times. “ONE WAY” signs will be posted soon!
2 - The stop sign in the curve of the car rider line was placed there on accident. You may disregard this sign and continue to proceed around the car rider loop to help continue to flow of drop-offs/pick-ups. Please be patient and kind as you merge into one lane in the car rider loop.
3 - Do not drive through cones in the parking lot. We have had to replace several cones that have been destroyed by cars running over them.
4 - In the car rider loop, please encourage your child to be ready to “unload” as soon as your car stops in front of the school (Under the awning area). This helps us move the line faster, get you through the car rider loops faster, and get kids in the building on time. We appreciate you for always “pulling all the way down” before you stop! The thumbs up, smiles, and waves are all in appreciation!!!
If your child is a walker, remind them to proceed home as soon as they are dismissed. We have too many students that are hanging out in front of the school/on campus that should be leaving the campus when they are dismissed. Students found not leaving the campus immediately will receive consequences.
