Greetings, Gator families!
As we begin the month of February, we are excited to celebrate Black History Month by honoring the achievements and contributions of Black leaders and change-makers through meaningful learning experiences across our campus. This year's theme is "A Century of Black History Commemorations." Our continued focus remains on academic growth, strengthening connections with students, and ensuring a safe learning environment through improved behavior and accountability. We will celebrate our counselors next week for all of the hard work they have put in. I would love for parents to share a kind word, email, or treat with the counseling team. Ms. Tucker and Ms. McCord have both done a fantastic job filling the gaps around our building. Thank you for your ongoing support as we work together to help every Gator succeed academically, socially, and emotionally!
Sincerely, Mrs. Burks |

This month’s ARMS featured group is the 6th grade Social Studies scholars and teachers. The teachers created a dynamic learning environment where students were actively engaged throughout the learning process. Scholars participated in a market simulation in which they created, marketed, and sold their own goods while exploring how different economic systems impact daily life. Additionally, scholars experienced the concepts of supply and demand firsthand through real-life competition in a free-market setting. #GrowGatorsGrow

Dear Parents,
As part of a comprehensive counseling program offered at Autumn Ridge Middle School, your child will have the opportunity to meet with his or her counselor through our district-required Personalized Counseling plan for all students. This specialized meeting will focus on goal setting, staying connected, and college and career planning to support our students' academic growth and social-emotional health. Students will meet with their counselor once each semester.
Thank you!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Here’s a quick update on what students are learning in science:
6th Grade students are studying how the locations of the Sun, Moon, and Earth affect ocean tides.
7th Grade students are learning about how energy flows through ecosystems.
8th Grade students are continuing their work on force and motion, focusing on Newton’s Laws and acceleration.
Students are encouraged to attend science tutorials every Tuesday for extra help and enrichment. At home, students can also access Science IXL for additional application and practice.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s science teacher if you have any questions or need additional support.
Thank you for your continued support!
Sincerely, The Science Team |

| RELA Update:
Destiny Wallace- 8th Grade RELA Named: GOAT: Greatest Of All Teachers (Reading)
G – Growth-Focused Fosters measurable growth in reading skills through intentional instruction and data-informed practices.
O – Outstanding Instruction Delivers engaging, standards-aligned literacy instruction that inspires a love of reading.
A – Advocate for Readers Champions diverse texts, equity in literacy, and support for all learners.
T – Transformational Impact Makes a lasting impact on students’ confidence, comprehension, and lifelong reading habits.
Rela Tutorials: Wednesday @ 4:00-5:00 pm |
|
|
Across all grade levels in RELA, students are currently working on argumentative writing. They are learning how to make clear, text-based claims, synthesize information across multiple genres, and support their thinking with strong, relevant evidence from what they read. This work is helping students move beyond simple summaries and toward deeper analysis and explanation in full essays.
After-school tutorials are focused on supporting students who are still struggling with organization and clearly explaining their evidence in writing. In addition, one area of need we are seeing schoolwide is writing conventions (capitalization, punctuation, and complete sentences).
In February, students will participate in field testing, a Mock STAAR, and TELPAS testing. It is very important that students attend school every day so they do not miss critical instruction and practice leading up to these assessments.
Families can play a big role in helping students grow. You can support your child by:
Making sure they read at home each night.
Having them log in to IXL for extra practice.
Encouraging them to write in complete, correct sentences when texting, messaging, or typing at home instead of using fragments or abbreviations.
Consistent reading, writing, and daily attendance will greatly strengthen students’ skills and confidence as writers. |

CAR RIDER LOOP / WALKERS
For the safety of our students, please do not move our parking cones in any area that is placed to direct traffic. Our traffic signage is expected to be completed soon. Just a few reminders for safety…
1 - The front car rider loop is a “ONE WAY” at all times. Please do not exit the front parking lot, turning right. It is a “left turn” only to follow the car rider loop. Our car rider loop is a double-stacking lane in one direction at all times. “ONE WAY” signs will be posted soon!
2 - The stop sign in the curve of the car rider line was placed there on accident. You may disregard this sign and continue to proceed around the car rider loop to help continue to flow of drop-offs/pick-ups. Please be patient and kind as you merge into one lane in the car rider loop. 3 - Do not drive through cones in the parking lot. We have had to replace several cones that have been destroyed by cars running over them.
4 - In the car rider loop, please encourage your child to be ready to “unload” as soon as your car stops in front of the school (Under the awning area). This helps us move the line faster, get you through the car rider loops faster, and get kids in the building on time. We appreciate you for always “pulling all the way down” before you stop! The thumbs up, smiles, and waves are all in appreciation!!!
If your child is a walker, remind them to proceed home as soon as they are dismissed. We have too many students that are hanging out in front of the school/on campus that should be leaving the campus when they are dismissed. Students found not leaving the campus immediately will receive consequences. |
